Syracuse is a Purple Heart City.
Wednesday, May 22nd, 2024
Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh declared Syracuse as a Purple Heart City and announced the kick-off to the Syracuse Hometown Heroes Banner Project.
The event was solemn and respectful, and it was attended by various Veterans organizations and City Leaders.
Four signs announcing our Purple Heart City status will be posted at four entrances to the City, two at the ends of North and South Salina Street and two at the ends of Genesee Street, both east and west. Read more at https://www.syr.gov/News/2024/2024-05-22-Mayors-Office-News
Applications for the Hometown Heroes Banners will be accepted until June 20th. The cost is $169.00 for three years. The Banners will fly on James Street from Downtown through Eastwood and in Kirk Park on Syracuse’s South Side. The program is open to former and current active-duty military members.
