HOMETOWN HEROES BANNERS BEING PLACED

Syracuse, NY
Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh announced that the Syracuse Hometown Heroes Banners are now being installed throughout the City. Speaking with a group of Veterans and neighbors at Kirk Park last Thursday, August 1st, the Mayor expressed gratitude to all who assisted in getting this project off the ground and implemented.

Veterans groups were in attendance, including Dunbar Post 1642 Commander Herb Dunmore, himself a Vietnam Veteran, Purple Heart recipient, and Hometown Heroes Banner recipient, Onondaga County Adjutant William Galvin, and Onondaga County Historian Jerome Orton.

The banner placement will be rolled out in phases as they arrive from the printers. The first phase will consist of the first 60 applicants, who are being placed within Kirk Park and alongside James Street between Teall Ave and Shotwell Park. These were the first 60 received out of 300 ordered. As quickly as the remaining number comes in, they will be placed and remain for three years.

You can find additional information and apply for a banner can be found at the City of Syracuse website for the program at
