Syracuse Flag Day Ceremony: Honoring Our Nation’s Colors

June 14, 2025

Syracuse, NY – Flag Day! Members of the Historic Syracuse Post 41 and Valley Post 1468 team up to conduct an Honorable U.S. Flag Retirement and Disposal Ceremony. The ceremony took place at the Valley Post on Academy Street in Syracuse from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

We are grateful to the thirteen members who attended and actively participated in the ceremony. We also want to express our heartfelt thanks to our civilian neighbors who contributed to the event by dropping off flags or showing their support with a honk as they drove by. Your support is invaluable to us!

During the solemn four-hour ceremony, we retired nearly 1,000 flags, each representing a unique story and a piece of our nation’s history. Among them were four state flags and one naval flag, each with its own significance and honor.
