Manlius Pebble Hill Senior wins the 2024 Onondaga County American Legion Oratorical Contest.

Syracuse, NY

In a remarkable display of eloquence and knowledge, Jorge Niederhoffer, a Senior from Manlius Pebble Hill, emerged victorious in the 2024 Oratorical Competition, speaking passionately about the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

The competition occurred on Saturday, December 22nd, 2024, at Dunbar Post 1642 in Syracuse.   Attended by past and present Officers of the Onondaga County American Legion, Niederhoffer spoke on the topic of immigration and how the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution protects the speech and beliefs of Americans.

Starting from recounting his own experiences as an immigrant to the United States, he spoke clearly and sincerely on how he feels the U.S. Constitution, particularly the First Amendment, prohibits restrictions on speech, religion, etc., is a uniquely American concept.   One he is immensely grateful for.   Niederhoffer has accepted early college attendance at George Washington University.

Oratorical Chairman Herb Dunmore was the Master of Ceremonies. Judges were former County Commander Darlene Spivey, County Judge Advocate Juanita Perez, and Assemblywoman Pamela Hunter of the 128th District.

Niederhoffer will next compete in the American Legion District Competition on January 11th, 2025, in Philadelphia, NY. The location has yet to be determined.
