Hello, My name is Chuck Iavarone, and I am proud to announce that American Legion Baseball is returning to Syracuse and Onondaga County. I am serving as the Onondaga County Chairman for American Legion Baseball. In addition to that I am the Manager of the Baseball Program at Valley Post 1468 which will play host to our first team in Onondaga County in over 50 years.
This is a proud program that has produced over 50% of Major League Baseball Players and nearly all Major League Baseball Managers. This is a highly competitive program which consists of a national playoff structure. It is my intention to keep costs for the program down as low as possible to try to reach any player regardless of their financial circumstances.
As part of this we are holding our Opening Day at Sunnycrest Field on June 1st, 2024 at 5 PM. Game time is 6 PM
Currently our team consists of players from Onondaga, Camillus, Syracuse, Nedrow, Cicero, East Syracuse, North Syracuse, and Liverpool. Going to the following Schools; Home School, ITC, Onondaga Central, Ontech charter, OCC, PSLA, Keuka, East Syracuse-Minoa, Cicero-North Syracuse, Liverpool High School, and Nottingham.
We are not done recruiting and raising money, so hopefully you can help spread the word. We need a few more players and I could use some adult volunteer help also. Please feel free to check out our website at www.AL1468Baseball.com or to contribute, consider entering our 50/50 or buying popcorn from us! All monies are handled by the American Legion which is a 501c3 organization.
Based on the response that we have already received we are hopeful for next year of adding a second team, and bringing an invitational tournament to Syracuse Next year, and if successful potentially apply to be the host of a State, or Regional tournament in the future.
